Foodies unite! Just because we’re a smaller city doesn’t mean Yellowknife isn’t big on its food scene.

Our community is bustling with a great local food scene ranging from traditional Indigenous dishes to a diverse international selection that’s sure to leave your mouth watering.

It’s a surprise to many people to learn that Yellowknifers are able to obtain a substantial amount of vegetables, pantry staples, and fresh meals from local businesses who spend their time year-round thinking about the growing season.

Visit the Yellowknife Farmers Market from June to September every Tuesday evening at Somba K’e Park to grab a taste of what our local vendors have to offer. The Taste of the North shop also offers you the chance to bring some tasty treats home…or you can snack on them on the plane home - we won’t tell!

If the farmer’s market isn’t your scene, there are over 50 restaurants to choose from in Yellowknife, ranging from fast food chains like Tim Hortons and McDonald’s to finer dining establishments such as the Explorer Hotel and the Chateau Nova. The city offers a global smorgasbord of flavors, featuring Indigenous, Indian, African and Canadian cuisines, to name just a few.

If you’re looking to unwind after a busy day of shopping and exploring, head over to the Woodyard Brewhouse and enjoy a pint -- with many award-winning brews on tap, it’s the perfect spot to relax and savor the spirit of the North.
